The Society for Kona’s Education and Art and Aloha Quilters present “Reach for the Stars,” a quilt and fiber arts show, next weekend in South Kona.
More than 50 quilts and fabric art pieces made by Big Island artists will be displayed during event which runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 15 and and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 16 at SKEA’s campus in Honaunau.
The theme of this year’s show is “Reach for the Stars” with some pieces taking a more traditional route and others a more whimsical route. All will be competing for a viewer’s choice award.
Some pieces will be offered for sale. A silent auction will be held for a “round-robin” quilt made by four members of the Aloha Quilters guild benefiting SKEA.
SKEA is located at 84-5191 Mamalahoa Highway in Honaunau, between mile markers 105 and 106.
The Aloha Quilters meet monthly to talk story, share quilts and skills and make donation quilts for Child and Family Service and veterans on Hawaii Island.
